Course overview
Where the CISSP recognises those who design and lead an organisation's security strategy, the SSCP recognises those who implement, monitor and administer IT infrastructure using security best practices, policies and procedures - protecting data confidentiality, integrity and availability under real-world conditions. It confirms you don't just know security - you do security.
As an ISC2 Official Training Partner, we use courseware developed by ISC2 to ensure your training is relevant and up-to-date. Our instructors are verified security experts who have completed intensive training to teach ISC2 content.
Objectives & outcomes
After completing this course, you should be able to:
Apply security fundamentals
Apply the fundamental concepts, principles and practices of information security to day-to-day security operations and administration.
Implement and maintain security controls
Implement, document and maintain functional security controls in line with organisational policies, standards and procedures, and participate in asset, change and configuration management.
Manage access and identities
Implement and maintain authentication methods and access control models, and manage the identity lifecycle from provisioning to deprovisioning, enforcing least privilege.
Identify and treat risks
Identify, assess and monitor risks, threats and vulnerabilities across IT environments, and apply appropriate risk treatment strategies.
Operate and monitor security platforms
Operate and monitor security platforms, analyse the results, and act on what the data shows.
Respond to incidents and recover
Detect, respond to and recover from security incidents across the full lifecycle, and support forensic investigations, business continuity plans and disaster recovery processes.
Apply cryptography
Apply cryptographic techniques, secure protocols and key management practices to protect data at rest and in transit.
Secure networks and systems
Secure networks and communication channels across wired, wireless and cloud environments, operate the devices that defend them, and implement endpoint, mobile, cloud and virtual environment security.

- Comply with codes of ethics.

- Understand legal and regulatory concerns (e.g., jurisdiction, limitations, privacy).
- Perform security assessments and vulnerability management activities.
- Operate and monitor security platforms (e.g., continuous monitoring).
- Analyze monitoring results.
Module 4
- Understand and support incident response lifecycle (e.g., National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), International Organization for Standardization (ISO)).
- Understand and support forensic investigations.
- Understand and support business continuity plan (BCP) and disaster recovery plan (DRP) activities.
Module 5
- Understand reasons and requirements for cryptography.
- Apply cryptography concepts.
- Understand and implement secure protocols.
- Understand and support public key infrastructure (PKI) systems.
Module 6
- Understand and apply fundamental concepts of networking.
- Understand network attacks (e.g., distributed denial of service (DDoS), man-in-the-middle (MITM), Domain Name System (DNS) cache poisoning).
- Manage network access controls.
- Manage network security.
- Operate and configure network-based security appliances and services.
- Secure wireless communications.
- Secure and monitor Internet of Things (IoT) (e.g., configuration, network isolation, firmware updates, End of Life (EOL) management).
Module 7
- Identify and analyze malicious code and activity.
- Implement and operate endpoint device security.
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR).
- Understand and configure cloud security.
- Operate and maintain secure virtual environments.

Your global certification
To achieve the ISC2 SSCP certification, you must pass the exam and have at least one year of cumulative, full-time work experience in one or more of the seven domains of the ISC2 SSCP Exam Outline. Earning a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information technology or a related field may satisfy up to one year of the required experience, and part-time work and internships also count. Full details can be found here. Don't have enough experience yet? You can still pass the SSCP exam and become an Associate of ISC2 while you earn the required work experience. Associates of ISC2 have two years to earn the one year of required experience. The SSCP exam is 2 hours long with 100-125 multiple choice and advanced item type questions. The exam uses Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) and can be taken only in-person at Pearson VUE Select Testing Centers. You must achieve 700 out of 1000 points to pass.
