MySkills Scheme
The MySkills scheme (based on the Training Pays scheme) is a government training grant in Malta that helps individuals upskill or reskill by reimbursing part or all of their course costs. It is funded through Jobsplus and the European Social Fund+ (ESF+).
You are eligible if you:
- are aged 15 or over and have completed compulsory schooling (Secondary).
- live in Malta.
- are employed (excluding self-employed) or unemployed / inactive.
- keep your job throughout the training, if you apply as employed.
Self-employed applicants are not eligible.
It depends on your employment status:
- Unemployed or inactive: up to 100% reimbursement.
- Employed: up to 80% reimbursement.
There is a maximum of €5,000 per application. The reimbursement is paid after you successfully complete the course.
MySkills covers a fixed catalogue that includes the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing, the Professional Diploma in UX Design, Graphic Designer Associate, Website Developer, Python Foundations, the Datacamp Data Analyst courses, CCNA, Microsoft Azure Administrator, ISC2 CISSP and SSCP, the IAPP privacy certifications and more. See the full list in our MySkills guide.
There are two stages. You apply through the official MySkills application form yourself; ICE cannot apply on your behalf.
1. Application stage. Apply on or before the final day of the course. You will need a valid residence permit or ID (front and back), the official receipt(s) for full or partial payment, and two documents from us: the course schedule dates and a Payment Declaration Form. Contact the ICE team and we will provide them. This stage takes 10 to 15 working days.
2. Reimbursement stage. Once the preliminary checks and your employment status check are complete, use the link in the email you receive to submit your Financial Identification Form and your certificate of achievement. Funds are paid after both stages are complete.
- Funding is not automatic: it depends on your employment status and Jobsplus approval.
- The course title in your application must exactly match the one in the MySkills catalogue. Ask us if you want help matching it.
- Check that your employment records on Jobsplus are accurate and up to date before applying. You can download your Employment History by logging in to your Jobsplus account with your eID.
- Reimbursement is paid only after you complete the course.
Questions? Contact our team and we will guide you through the application step by step.
Easy Payment Scheme
The easy payment scheme lets you spread your course fee over monthly instalments at no extra cost, so you can start learning without paying everything up front.
Payments are taken by card each month until the course fee is fully paid. Your place is confirmed once the first instalment is received.
- Choose “Pay monthly” when you enrol, or ask an advisor to set it up for you.
- Pay the first instalment to confirm your place.
- The remaining instalments are taken automatically each month.
- You receive a receipt for every payment, which you can use for funding claims.
We will contact you to arrange a new payment date. If payments remain overdue, access to classes and certificates may be paused until the balance is settled, as set out in our terms and conditions.
IIS Scheme
Investing in Skills (IIS) is a Jobsplus scheme, part-financed by the European Union, that helps employers in Malta train their staff. Eligible companies can recover part of the training costs and the wages of employees while they attend approved training.
- Choose the course and confirm the dates with us; we send a quote and course details.
- Your company submits the IIS application to Jobsplus before training starts.
- Your employees attend the course and we provide attendance records and certificates.
- Your company files the claim with Jobsplus after the training.
Our team can help you prepare the paperwork. See the IIS scheme terms.
