“The accountant who switched to a career in digital marketing. Meet Jessica.”

After studying accountancy all her life and working as an external auditor for the last 6 years, Jessica realised that her chosen path wasn’t as rewarding as she wanted it to be. She decided to take a leap of faith and enrol for the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing course and months later she scored the job title of Digital Marketing & Communications Executive at Malta Public Transport. This is her story.

You are a graduated accountant yet decided to change your career path, why?

Realistically, I was waking up every morning dreading going to work, so, I decided that I needed to make a change. I researched and the Diploma in Digital Marketing came up – it seemed like an interesting option. I contacted ICE Malta to learn more about this learning opportunity and I decided to start this course – a few months after that I scored a career as a digital marketer.

How did digital marketing skills help you progress?

The Diploma in Digital Marketing course gave me the skills, industry insight and knowledge to be able to search for a career path which would in my eyes be more rewarding. Just months after completing the course, I was handpicked for a career in digital marketing. Honestly, it was much easier than I expected.

You’re now gaining in-demand design skills – how will these help you level-up even further?

I use the Adobe Creative Suite almost every day at work so the design skills I am learning in the Graphic Designer Associate course are really helping me to use these essential tools in my daily work and be more agile and efficient.

What did you love most about your ICE Malta Study Experience?

I love the fact that lecturers as well as the team really care about the students. I don’t feel like I’m a number. Lecturers always responded to my questions and supported me during my learning journey and beyond. I will continue to recommend ICE Malta because it’s truly world-class learning.

What’s your message to talent who aspire to make a career change?

Never lose hope, remember that age is just a number. It is never too late to make a career change. ICE Malta will definitely help you take the leap and ultimately live the life that you deserve and wish for.

What’s next for you?

I’m excited to share that I’ve just started some freelance work for a few clients. After I finish my design certification I intend to continue specialising in Digital Marketing. The sky’s the limit!
